Celebrating Silver at Casino Español

CEBU, Philippines - Elmer Ocaba and May Bacalso were college mates at the University of San Carlos many years back. They finished their BSC-Accounting in USC and are now   both Certified Public Accountants with Elmer well established as relationship manager of a major bank.

Though their friendship started in their college days, their decision to tie the knot came after six years of courtship, much thought and only after they both knew without a doubt it was the right thing to do.

Like most marriages the Ocaba’s have had their share of trials, challenges and disappointments, but they too enjoy many happy moments highlighted with well-deserved success in business, work and more importantly, they are blessed with four children: Barbara Anne, Earvin John, Neil Raymund and Iris Anne who are well-disciplined, hard-working   and God-fearing.

Elmer and May have clearly withstood the test of time, 25 years of togetherness, in fact. A celebration was simply in order.

The proceedings began at the Pedro Calungsod Shrine at the Archibishop’s Palace where the couple renewed their wedding vows with Rev. Father Generoso Rebayla Jr. SVD celebrating the Mass. The ceremony was solemn and sincere.

The chapel was decorated simply but beautifully. An elegant combination of white blooms of mums and orchids was used in the altar arrangements.

The lunch reception followed at the Casino Español de Cebu where May holds court as the Club’s manager. Guests feasted on a sumptuous buffet that showcased the club’s specialties such as lengua estofada, paella, roast beef and an array of mouth watering desserts.

After the couple’s brief, yet touching speeches, invitees enjoyed a video presentation that chronicled the celebrants’ blissful lives. This was followed by a lively entertainment by their talented children who sang and danced.

Guests went home with dainty silver pouches that were filled with silver chocolate kisses to remember the occasion by.

To couples out there, whether it be the 1st or 50th anniversary,   take time to celebrate a milestone that you have crossed as a couple.
