Sun-kissed skin: A Beauty Advice
CEBU, Philippines - Summer is fast approaching and what better way to enjoy summer than to go to the beach, sunbathe, and enjoy a hot summer’s day. All these summer activities are the usual fun ideas to enjoy the season, yet it won’t let you get away from the scorching heat of the sun.
Instead of seeking different pieces of advice from the web, it is more reliable to ask directly from your nearest dermatologist. Dr. Dana Ruiz, a dermatologist and part-owner of Ruiz Derma, shares helpful tips to enjoy the summer, at the same time protect your skin from the ultra violet rays of the sun.
The most essential thing that can protect the face on a hot day is sunblock. “You must bring a sunblock everyday to protect your skin from the UV rays,” Dr. Ruiz said. As advised, sunblock must be applied three times a day; on 7 a.m, 11 a.m, and 2 p.m for regular retouching. This is more convenient than having to wash your face from time to time.
Water is a natural source of replenishment to your body. It also helps in the development of the skin. Since it is summertime and the harsh heat could damage your skin, Dr. Ruiz recommends that you drink as many as 8-10 glasses daily. “You have to drink plenty of water to rehydrate our body,” she said.
As an important intake to your body, you should not forget to eat fruits and vegetables as sources of the basic nutrients needed by your body. “You should eat watery fruits such as watermelon since it is made up mainly of water.”
“If it is possible, don’t apply any chemicals such as peeling products to your face. The chemicals might be too strong and might damage the skin triggered by the heat of the sun,” Ruiz advised. There are many people who do not seek advice from doctors, unaware that the products that they are using are dangerous to their skin.
Rest is a very important factor in your health. Ruiz said, “you need to rest in order to look fresh. An average of 8 hours a day will take away the stress look on your face.”
Another thing you should take into consideration is your personal outlook on life. “Negative perceptions can affect your appearance. If you consume negative feelings, it will greatly affect how you look,” she said.
“Beauty starts from within,” was Ruiz mentioned in her last advice.
According to her, no matter how much you put an effort to beautify yourself, if you are not happy with your looks, you won’t look beautiful.
“People should not always think about the outside beauty because it radiates from within. That is why beauty comes from the inside and not from the outside,” she concluded. (FREEMAN)
