CEBU, Philippines - The Ramon Teves Pastor Memorial-Dumaguete Science High School held its very first grand alumni homecoming last December 29, 2011 at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City.
The event was hosted by Batch 2005, gathering not just the alumni but former teachers, as well, like the school's first principal, Dr. Peter Dayot, who now sits as Vice President for Planning, Research, Development, and International Linkages for Negros Oriental State University, and Dr. Enrique Oracion, then the school's social studies teacher and now Director for Research and Development of Silliman University.
The highlight of the event was the formation of the long overdue alumni association, which seeks to actively involve its graduates in matters of the school's development.
RTPM-DSHS was the brainchild of Dr. Caridad C. Labe, now Schools Division Superintendent of Naga City, Cebu. It was founded in 1987 with one class and one year level, the students of which were judged as the best graduates in the province's elementary schools, both privately-owned and government-ran. The school produced its first graduates in 1991, and today remains to provide high quality science-focused education to the city's poor yet deserving students.
