Equestrienne Proportions

CEBU, Philippines - The center part was anything but pivotal or revolutionary although it has been listed as one of 2012’s hottest dos. Seriously, it's anything but new, as well. I remember sporting the center part since I was in pre-school and all the way through college. It's a classic, mind you, but sometimes the center part can be too every day, too overused.

And while we cannot do away with the center part, considering that it is going to be a main stay for 2012, we breathe new life into it with the looped-under ponytail straight from the runway of one of the biggest name's in fashion, Carolina Herrera.

The looped-under ponytail is a look that's not just fitting when the sun will already be taking a break. It's also perfect for the day time as well as this is one 'do that's elegantly equestrienne and fetchingly fresh.

Drawing inspiration from Carolina Herrera's Spring 2012 runway, the looped-under ponytail was kept perfectly sleek and tidy, save for a few lose strands falling at the sides of the face to give this do an authentic feel, as if you've just stepped off from a morning ride.

Here's how to cap the one do that's of equestrienne proportions:

1. It pays to have clean, healthy hair at the onset to pull off this 'do. But in the event that you're hair is a little bit more on the frizzy side, use a smoothing or conditioning leave-on to keep the frizz in place and give your air a natural-looking shine.

2. Apply styling cream on your hair and spread it evenly by running your fingers thoroughly through your hair before blow-drying your hair straight. If you have naturally pin straight hair, you may wish to forego this step.

3. Carefully part your hair right at the center and pull it back into a low ponytail, securing it right at the nape of your neck. You may also want to add a little more volume into your hair by teasing it a bit and spraying it with hairstyle to give it maximum hold.

4. Loop the length of the ponytail right underneath and secure it with a thin elastic, leaving out a small section. Carefully shape the loop into a neat triangle.

5. Wrap the loose section of hair around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic and pin it in place. Spritz a bit of hairspray to keep it there.

Finish the entire look with hairspray to hold. (FREEMAN)
