CEBU, Philippines - There are thousands of reasons for occasions to be celebrated. It can be one of the best moments in the life of a person as it enables family and friends to get together and have fun.
One such individual had more than enough motivation to invite family and close friends. Allow me to go back in time and share with you an incident that literally changed his life.
A few months ago, Troy Uy, a successful dentist, a devoted husband and caring father, was jogging around the exclusive residential estate where he lives when without any warning, a reckless driver hit him from the back that left him unable to move, let alone walk. His dedicated wife Sheila was heavily pregnant at that time.
After a series of operations and relentless therapy, Troy is able to finally walk with the aid of a cane and Sheila has since given birth to a bouncing eight-pound baby boy.
Recently, the couple hosted a sit-down dinner at the Salon de España of the Casino Español de Cebu to give thanks to the Almighty for the gift of life, family and friends; as well as to celebrate the baptism of their newborn son who was christened Michael Wilroy. This name is significant as it stands for the fervent will of Troy to survive despite the agonizing trials he had to endure.
The celebration began with a thanksgiving Mass officiated by Msgr. Roberto Alesna.
During the sumptuous dinner that followed, several heartwarming speeches were delivered. Sheila, close to tears, recounted their difficult ordeal. But by the grace of God, found strength and courage through unwavering faith. Troy’s ever supportive and hard working mom Aida Uy, was simply over the moon with joy having her entire loving family together.
Troy expressed his sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers and support during the most challenging stage in his life.
No matter how tough our journey may be, we must never forget the power of prayer and while it is not always easy to remember gratitude, it is important that we are aware of what is good in our life and be thankful for our many blessings.
