CEBU, Philippines - The Hispanic communities the world over, honor and celebrate their ancestry and the multi-cultural heritage of their race on October 12 which is widely known as Dia de la Hispanidad.
On this much anticipated day, los oficiales y miembros del Casino Español de Cebu got together for a formal dinner dance at the club’s grandiose Salon de España.
The ladies looked lovely in their evening gowns while the caballeros, in either formal barong tagalong or black tie, were dashing.
Just before dinner, club president Enrico Gandionco and Spanish Honorary Consul Jaime Picornell raised their glasses and led the celebratory toast to the Reyes de España and to the Filipino people who have embraced and adopted much of the Spanish culture and tradition in their daily lives.
Everyone feasted on sumptuous dishes laid out on various food stations that featured all time favorite house specialties. For starters, they had jamon Serrano, a selection of Spanish cured-cold cuts, croquetas, salmon and a variety of salads. The plato principal consisted of roast leg of lamb with herbs and spices, roasted US Angus prime chuck roll of beef, lengua con setas, and paella Valenciana.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by the Rockin Revival Band that had the guests hitting the dance floor right after dinner and way into the wee hours.
As in years past, just before midnight, a beef soup deep in flavor with lots of vegetables cooked to perfection, was served .
The evening promised fun, laughter and dancing and it did not disappoint. This grand event was another perfect celebration which surely etched lovely memories guests are sure to treasure for a long time to come. (FREEMAN)
