Province of Cebu marked 442nd Anniversary
It has always been a yearly affair since the governor took over the reins of the provincial government seven years ago…that is, everytime the province of Cebu would mark its founding anniversary. During the last event, Cebu Province commemorated its 442nd founding anniversary with a formal governor’s ball and Garbo sa Sugbo Award.
Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia, wearing an elegant fashioned bustier gown, led in awarding outstanding individuals, as well as institutions and civic organizations. She was assisted by Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.
Leading the awardees was Archbishop Jose S. Palma with the Award of Distinction and Medal of Merit. The other awardees were: Ambassador Francisco L. Benedicto for International Relations; Chester Cokaliong for Entrepreneurship; Mariquita S. Yeung for Humanitarian and Social Services; Gloria Sevilla for the Performing Arts; and Very Rev. Msgr. Rodolfo Villanueva for Music and Literature.
An awards was also given to the Municipality of San Francisco, Camotes for Local Community Development & Environment Management. The award was accepted by Vice Mayor Alfredo Arquillano. The Governor’s Citation Recipients were the Mandaue Children’s Choir for music and Catmon Elementary School Volleyball Team Girls for sports.
Congratulations to the Province of Cebu for a very successful celebration of its 442nd Founding Anniversary. And to the awardees, more power and God bless you all! (Photos by Loy Jurado)
