Think Again
CEBU, Philippines - What comes into your mind when someone asks you, “Who do you think is God?” This is a very crucial question that we must answer accurately. Because, the way we view God dictates the way we value Him. If we view Him as someone who is at the same level with us, no doubt, we will just take Him lightly. But, if we see God in the light of His Word and truly know Him personally, surely, our response would only be humility and gratefulness.
In the Bible, God is being described in so many ways. In fact, the whole of the Bible just simply talks about Him – His greatness, power, glory, grace and etc. God is indeed inexhaustible. But for now, we will just be describing Him as God our Creator.
Sadly, many people nowadays have a confused and corrupted knowledge about God being our Creator. Many seem to doubt God’s existence. Well, I couldn’t blame them for their foolishness, for the Bible clearly tells us that “the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers…” (2 Cor. 4:4) However, the Bible tells us the truth of God’s existence and God being our Creator in the book of Genesis.
God’s existence is the starting point of Christianity. When we get this wrong, everything else will follow. We must understand that because God exists, and God has created us, we belong to Him and we’re owned by Him. He’s the Creator, we’re the created. He’s the Maker, we’re the made. He’s God, we’re men. Because, we’re owned by Him, we’re held accountable to Him.
This truth is so crucial when we’re studying the Gospel. We have to get this. If not, man will just begin to live life in their own set of rules and regulations. If we get this wrong, our lives will totally be a mess. Because we’re accountable to Him, we must once again think on how we should live our lives. We can’t just play around because we know that God is watching over us every second of our lives.
Therefore, we must learn to live our lives in a way that we’re not the captain of our own self. God is still the Head, the Master, Creator, Lord and Owner of all. Thus, we’re held accountable to Him always. Let us always remember that we don’t exist because of our own self. We exist because God exists. Question is, are we living our lives recognizing that everything in us is held accountable to God?
