Denim Entrapment

CEBU, Philippines - There is no doubt that Mabel transferred denim from its iconic asset, the one that made countless men adore the female anatomy. Instead of admiring denim down south, Mabel turned their eyes north and mesmerized everyone with her line of accessories. July 15 at FORMO became one of those iconic fashionable moments when we were treated to Cebuano talent in the form of blings, chains and denim. Maria Belinda S. Paredes or Mabel, owner of Trappings Cebu, along with the team of Justine Gloria Hair and Makeup, held Azul Trappings, a fashion show showcasing Trappings Accessories modeled by Mabel and Justine’s friends.

“I was always fascinated with art and accessories. Tinkering and altering accessories is something that I do for my friends and family,” says Mabel. “It just got to the point that whenever I would think of something, I had to do it or else I couldn’t sleep. By then it was obvious that this was and still is my passion.”

Models Marian Quitevis, Ione Enriquez, Anne Monteclar, Julia Garcia, Summer Shafer, Jee Candelasa, Grace Velasco, Di Reyes, Janina Berciles, Angel Cabatit, Bianca Asuncion and Jinky Gualberto managed to display a decade long craft that now thrives in every woman’s closet. “Accessories are meant to accentuate a person’s sense of style and individuality regardless of taste and social status,” says Mabel. “I wouldn’t say I’m anti establishment but I want to create something classy that would still be affordable to the general public. I asked my husband for some suggestions and Trappings just seemed to resonate with everything I just said.”
