4th Sabores de España at Marco Polo

It was the 4th lunch of Sabores de España at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, and still going strong. As always, Ms. Gema Pido, an authority on Spanish culinary was still the consultant during the event.

HE Ambassador of Spain to the Philippines Jorge Domecq flew all the way from Manila as Guest of Honor. Conspicuously absent was the well-liked GM Hans Hauri who was greatly missed by his friends, staff and officers of the hotel. (Heard it told he was having a grand time with family in his home country.)

Once again, main feature of the event was the carving of the jamon Serrano, flown all the way from Madrid, Spain. Ambassador Domecq led in carving the ham with Ms. Gema Pido, Julie Najar and Chef Luke Gagnon assisting.

The most impressive part of the evening was the parade of paella, followed by the serving of the rest of the Spanish menu. And the last to be served was the callos madrilène which was superb. Expect the Sabores de España to be much more exciting next year.
