However, more than her influence in the realm of her advocacies, Brigitte Bardot is a fashion icon having popularized the sex kitten image with her signature classic, voluminous half-up bouffant 'do that never seems to completely go out of style.

Although this particular style may vary year in and year out, this is a 'do that's well worth mastering and updating every so often. This works best with naturally wavy, below-the-shoulders hair. The longer and wavier, the more glamorous the style.

1.It's important to prep your hair for this ‘do by making sure that there's just enough texture and support to make the style hold. Extra effort will be needed for those with pin-straight hair as this style works best with luscious curls and waves. Keep the texture just enough to add volume but not too much to make it too messy to handle. Add more texture as you feel is fit for the type of look that you want to achieve. Your bestfriend here will be our trusty mousse.

2.Separate the hair into several sections, curling each section away from the face with a curling iron or hot rollers. Go for barrel curls instead of tiny ringlets. Brush the curls out to break them up and give them a more natural look. Set aside a circular portion of hair at the top of the crown. The mirror is your best friend when styling yourself.

3.Divide the section into smaller sections as these will be used later on to build height and volume via back combing. Work on the root area only by holding the very back parting at medium tension. When done right, teasing the hair (back combing) will not cause as much damage and knotting as it is thought out to cause. You can do this by working with the comb an inch from the scalp by putting the comb in and working it in curved movements down to the root area.

5.Softly brush back the top section of the hair over the teased or back combed section. Work on the bouffant by shaping it into the desired height and roundness. Pull the hair back and secure at the center with hair pins to hold it in place.

6.Bring two smaller side sections of hair into the bouffant to create a clean finish. Pin the two side sections in place by lightly twisting each side into the center to help create a sense of balance and a smoother finish.
