Beautiful Cebu - A Dream Realized
Almost a year ago today, the Super Beautification Council was organized with the first meeting held at the office of Mayor Michael Rama. Not long after, an organizational meeting was hosted by the ever-gracious chair Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung with dinner at her home in Nivel Hills. Some 35 young and energetic ladies came, pledging to give their support to this noble project.
Ten months had passed, and the first dream came true with the first completed sidewalk launched at the BDO site in Fuente Osmeña. The sidewalk was paved with colored bricks courtesy of BDO - a shining example especially to those who pledged to do the same in their respective places. Msgr. Roberto Alesna then blessed the project with Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia as a special guest of honor and Mayor Michael Rama, and of course, with chair Mariquita S. Yeung and members of the newly-registered Beautification Cebu Movement Foundation, Inc. Also there was president, Atty. Joje Decal.
A plaque of appreciation was given to Governor Gwen F. Garcia who pledged to support even more to this project. In response, the governor received a thunderous applause from the audience. Good gracious, Guv, you are truly a blessing and thank you ever so much!

Visiting couple, Jun and Evelyn Dakay were in their "hometown Cebu" for a brief visit. Valid reason was to be with Evelyn's mom who was hospitalized due to a stroke and later on, pneumonia. Evelyn, who is well-liked here had a lot of send-off parties hosted by friends. She left for her adopted home, Orlando, Florida, USA.

We are showing here the different colors and designs of scarves made through crocheting. In the US, we did a lot of these scarves for only $25 per piece. And the proceeds will go to our project - feeding the poorest of the poor. My friend Emma L. does a lot of crocheted hats and she donates these to the hospital where there are so many women cancer patients who lost their hair due to chemotherapy. The hospital thanked Emma so much for this humanitarian work she rendered to these women. Praise the Lord!
