Treat your pets to the mall!

CEBU, Philippines - You are in the mall with your family and everyone is having so much fun. You visit the different shops, do your groceries and have lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants. Everything is perfect except that the family had to leave one member at home – your dear pet - because he or she is not allowed in the mall.

This is the usual scenario when families go to the mall during weekends or during holidays. While we treat our pets like they are people when we are at home, we cannot do anything but leave them behind when the family goes out to shop or dine in malls because stores do not allow animals in.

Well, that was before. You can now take your pets with you when you go malling with the family at Parkmall.

Marketing and PR Manager Judith Sellner shared that Parkmall is the only pet-friendly mall. “Parkmall targets families. We are welcoming pets to the mall to complete the family,” she said.

Parkmall started opening their doors to pets last October. Sellner said that letting pets in the mall was part of the original plan when the mall started. It, however, took time to implement because the mall had to prepare its personnel.

So that your pet can enjoy the mall with you, you only have to secure a pet pass from Parkmall’s customer service officer to register your pet. A pet pass costs P50 per month or just P175 for one year.

“Owners must be responsible for their pets when at the mall at all times. We only allow animals that are tamed. There are also rules to follow like dogs must be on a leash,” she said, adding that pet owners should also be the ones to clean up when their pets make poopoo.

While you are doing your groceries, you can also do things for your pet like buy them food and accessories or give them a grooming session. The Cebu Marine Aquatics, a pet shop at Parkmall, offers grooming for pets, and at the same time functions like a hotel for animals. Another tenant, Handyman, sells pet food and accessories

“Eventually, we will also have promos for pets and we also plan to hold workshops for pet owners,” Sellner added.
