Mark and Juliet Tan (Cebuanos of Chinese descent) gave a big party for their three sons- Anthony, Patrick and Nathan whose birthdays were just weeks apart. It was just like hitting three birds with one stone. Held at their home in Long Beach, CA., Mark and Juliet had practically Cebuanos as their guests but mostly Chinese.

Surprise for us all was the presence of Danny and Gladys Tan (he was formerly the manager of Singapore Airlines in Cebu!) but now they are living in Fullerton, CA. Also there was Dr. Juvy Young, a Cebuana too married to Herson Go from Manila. They have two children Christian and Natasha. We also met Kelly Siao and his wife Shirley and daughter Kathleen. The towering Kelly used to be a varsity player of USC in Cebu City. We were quite overwhelmed with the presence of so many Visayan-speaking guests reminiscent of Cebu parties. For the Cebuanos here, parties are not complete without lechon and dinuguan, so Mark and Juliet never missed to have one big lechon for all to savor. And it was pretty good! The rest of the day was spent to having games for the children to enjoy.
