CEBU, Philippines - Balletcenter is once again thrilling audiences with their annual Summer Spectacular. It is a seven-week intensive workshop which prepares the dancers to participate in a culminating activity at the end of the program.
This year, it features Back to the 50s, a choreography by Gregory Aaron, a Romeo & Juliet pas de deux, Panache, a neo-classical piece choreographed by Nicolas Pacana, and various children’s repertoire such as Stars of Tomorrow and Candyland. Back to the 50s takes you back to the time of famous medleys that will surely bring nostalgic memories to both the young and the young at heart. Also a highlight in this year’s culminating activity is Romeo and Juliet’s balcony scene to be performed by world-renowned danseur and Balletcenter’s co-artistic director, Nicolas Pacana and former demi-soloist of Ballet Manila, Sheila Lendio-Manlunas. Other performances in Back to the 50s include Arisa Kristen Onozawa and Megan Marie Chan who will be alternating in a solo piece, Que Sera Sera by Doris Day. Frank Sinatra’s Love and Marriage will be performed by Mhynard Etis and Thea Pala alternated by Rey Allen Espinosa. Isabel Daniela Gapas and Darius Rey Dignos will be dancing Kiss of Fire by Georgia Gibbs.
