CEBU, Philippines - Leading telecommunica- tions company Globe Telecom has thrown its support behind the Ayala Museum and Aquino Foundation exhibit and tour of Revolution Revisited, a compilation of photographs taken during the People Power movement in 1986 by American photojournalist and Pulitzer prize winner Kim Komenich.
Kim Komenich, a photographer for the San Francisco Examiner during the said period, was able to capture important glimpses of the peaceful revolution. Sixty of the countless images he had taken are now on display at the exhibit.
“More than half of Filipinos today were born after 1986 and do not have a memory of People Power. A significant number of people may have been too young at the time. Photographs are a powerful tool for remembering and understanding. With Kim Komenich’s images, perhaps we can reinvigorate our sense of national solidarity and pride in being Filipino,” said Guillermo Luz, executive vice president of Ayala Foundation.
The exhibit opened on February 21 at the Ayala Museum and will go on a nationwide tour until yearend to provide the public with a visually engaging experience of the significant moments in contemporary Philippine history. Cebu tour schedules: Sept. 30 to Oct. 14 – Ayala Center Cebu; and Oct. 19 to Nov. 30 – University of San Carlos Cebu. (FREEMAN)
