Forty years ago, Cesar Salimbangon met Felicia Alfonso from Hong Kong at the defunct Otes Bazaar owned and managed by his late sister Ophelia Salimbangon Cue and husband Joe. Fely came to Cebu as a representative/consultant of Revlon, which at that time, was the most sought-after cosmetics brand in the country.
Fely, as she is fondly called by the family, was a very attractive girl with a curvaceous figure and had a beautiful fair complexion just like any Chinese from the then Crown Colony. And young and dashing Cesar, when introduced to Fely, was smitten instantly by her beauty, and from then on, never set his eyes on any other girl. The next thing we knew, the two were engaged. By March 20, 1971, Cesar and Fely were married at the Sacred Heart Church in Cebu City.
And so 40 years after, how time flies, Cesar and Fely celebrated their 40th (Ruby) wedding anniversary. Forty years of happy marriage and three beautiful children – Chad married to May with children Gabrielle Gail and Tammyra Giza, Ken married to Rhoanne with children Kristine Rene and Cezar Kristoffer, and only daughter Lauren who’s enjoying her single-blessedness. The celebration was in a way a gift from their children and their sister Kit Yeung.
Renewal of vows was officiated by Msgr. Roberto “Boy” Alesna and the reception was held at Villa Mariquita where sister Kit and husband Carlos, and the children of Cesar and Fely played hosts during the dinner celebration. A beautiful program followed after dinner with Fely’s Les Girls presenting a hilarious dance number. This brought the house down. Then the “apos” had a part, too, followed by another dance number by the Salimbangon nieces.
To the Ruby couple Cesar and Fely, may God bless you with good health, harmony and happiness and live long to be able to celebrate your golden wedding anniversary, 10 years from today!
