Consular Corps welcomes Hon. Consul Carmel Durano

CEBU, Philippines - Adam Jelonek, Malaysia-based Ambassador of the Republic of Poland with territorial jurisdiction on the Philippines, recently visited Cebu to preside over the ceremonial installation of Carmel Ruiz de Luzuriaga Durano as the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Poland in the island. Traveling with his Excellency was  Kateryzna Wilkowiecka, Deputy Head of Mission and Counselor of the Polish Embassy.

The highlight of the intimate gathering held at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel was a toast by the Ambassador to the presence of Poland in the Philippines and its special relations with Cebu in particular.

Honorary Consul Carmel Durano, in her acceptance speech, pledged her support to help promote and sustain the various joint projects and programs of both countries, as well as develop and strengthen small and medium scale enterprises with assistance from Poland.

Durano, a product of St. Scholastica’s College in Bacolod City, a graduate of De La Salle University, with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Business Management, is the wife of Representative Ramon Hotchkiss Durano VI and the mother of Miguel Antonio and Michaela Gabrielle.

The ever growing consular Corp of Cebu, a testimony of the island’s globalization in more ways than one was excellently represented to welcome its newest member. (FREEMAN)
