Splendid nail arts

- Donna B. Vitualia -

CEBU, Philippines - Decorating one’s nails or having nail art is the in thing today. There are a lot of nail art designs that range from subtle and understated to funky and outrageous.

Nail art is one way to express yourself. It may reflect your personality or the mood that you have for the day.

Did you know that you can have nail art without spending too much or going to the salon? You can create simple nail art at home.

Clean and shape your nails. Trim your nails first and file it properly to have the shape that you want. You can not create a good nail art if your nails are bitten down to stubs. If your nails are beyond repair, consider using artificial acrylic nails before painting it. Acrylic is a useful, clear plastic that resembles glass, but has properties that make it superior to glass in many ways.

Draw your designs onto your nails using a special thin tipped nail brush. If you don’t have a special thin tipped nail brush you can use a toothpick as an alternative for you to create the design that you want.

Remove the application mistakes. To swab the mistakes to your nails it is best to use cotton and pure acetone.

Work as fast as possible. It is best to work as fast as you can since the nail polish dries quickly. To save time, use a separate brush for each color of polish you are going to use for your nail art.

Start with simple, doable designs. You may want to make a design which would resemble the designs from a magazine or from an internet site, but if you’re a beginner and you only have minimal artistic talent, just begin with a simple design like geometric shapes or floral designs.

Preserve your nail art. Keep your design as long as possible by applying a coat of protective nail polish every after two to three days.  (FREEMAN)
