CEBU, Philippines - Balletcenter will bring back once again this Yuletide Season the full length ballet of the beloved Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker”.
It tells the story of Clara and her beloved Nutcracker Doll. In her dream, Drosselmeyer casts his spell over the children’s toys and brings them to life. The Nutcracker Doll and his army of Toy Soldiers battles with the Mouse King and the Mice and triumphs. The Nutcracker is then transformed into a handsome Prince and takes Clara to the Land of the Snow and Land of the Sugarplum Fairy where they are greeted by the Sugarplum Fairy & her Cavalier. The Nutcracker Prince then tells the story of the battle with the mice and how Clara saved him from the Mouse King. In gratitude for Clara’s courage, the Sugar Plum Fairy rewards them with a celebration of different dances. Clara and her Prince watch in fascination as the dancers from Spain, Arabia, China and Russia, as well as CandyCanes, Mirlitons, Attendants, Farandole, Jesters, the Dewdrop Fairy and the Flowers perform for them. As a finale, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier dance a beautiful Pas De Deux.
When all the dances are over, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier realize that Clara is tired. She and her Prince bid goodbye to everybody, and the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy fades. Clara is left with the memory of the most beautiful Christmas gift and she looks forward to her next trip to the magical land of dreams.
