Silkair inducted into hall of fame
CEBU, Philippines - SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, has been inducted into TTG Asia’s Travel Awards Hall of Fame at the 21st Travel Awards 2010.
TTG Asia’s Travel Hall of Fame honors those organizations that have won the TTG Travel Awards at least 10 times. SilkAir’s induction into the Hall of Fame follows its 10 successive win in the TTG Travel Awards last year. The airline has been voted “Best Regional Airline” in the annual Travel Awards for 10 years, between 1995 and 2009.
There are already six Travel Hall of Fame honoraries, including Singapore Airlines and Singapore Changi Airport. Companies which have been conferred this prestigious Travel Hall of Fame title will no longer compete in subsequent awards; instead TTG will continue to commemorate their achievements annually.
Commenting on the induction, SilkAir’s Chief Executive, Mr Chin Yau Seng, said: “SilkAir is honored to be inducted into the Travel Awards Hall of Fame, joining our parent company, Singapore Airlines, which was inducted in 2002. This award would not have been possible without the support of our loyal customers and industry partners, to whom we are very grateful. They have our assurance that we will continue to strive to exceed their expectations.”
SilkAir’s Manager Philippines, Mr Ajish Henry Morris added: “We, over in the Philippines, wish to thank our Filipino customers, government and tourism agencies, travel and cargo agents, service providers and suppliers for supporting us since 1990. We value their support and will continue with our efforts to link Cebu and Davao to the rest of the world. The recognition is timely as this month marks 20years of international flights between Cebu and Singapore.”
The annual TTG Travel Awards, presented by TTG Publishing, seeks to honor the luminaries in Asia-Pacific’s travel industry. The TTG Travel Awards 2010 recognizes the best in Asia’s hospitality, tourism, services and travel industries by offering awards across four categories: airlines, hotels, spas and travel agents. Winners in these categories are determined by votes cast by TTG readers across Asia Pacific. (THE FREEMAN)
