A marvelous weekend with Fr. Fernando Suarez

- Bro. Odon Sabarre -

CEBU, Philippines - After that wondrous birthday celebration at the Manila Polo Club Fr. Suarez invited me to attend, he asked me to come with him to his hometown in Botong, Batangas to stay for the night.

We couldn’t stay long at the party because Fr. Suarez’ mom, Azucena, was leaving for Canada at 3am. My only regret was that I had no chance to pose for pictures with TV talk show host Johnny Litton, whom I have not seen for 25 years. I was very much elated when Litton, the emcee of the party, introduced me to the elite crowd as an international artist sent as the first Filipino dance scholar sponsored by the Cultural Center of the Philippines through former First Lady Imelda R. Marcos.

We arrived about midnight in Batangas and I was delighted to see another celebrity priest there, Fr. Glen Gomez, SVD. Together with about five other guests, we sat down for a midnight snack and listened as Fr. Suarez talked about his life.

At 16 years old, he was aware already of his God-given power to heal but he kept it a secret because he knew that it came with a great responsibility. He knew that this power will give him fame and fortune and he wanted to be ready to face all of that physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. He really prayed so hard to God that he will remain an ordinary normal person, whatever happened to his life. He then started reading the Bible and absorbed everything he read. His superiors in the clergy were amazed that Fr. Suarez knows all the names and doctrines written in the Bible.

Fr. Suarez said that in San Diego, California, USA, during his Healing Mass at the Resurrection Church, a great miracle happened when the hosts in the tabernacle kept on multiplying in numbers. In Africa, about 20,000 people came to attend his Healing Mass. People from far places walked for a month just to be able to attend. In Saudi Arabia, the Queen of Saudi advised him to tell the people of the Philippines that our country will be more progressive if our people will be more focused on prophets (meaning the clergy) than showbiz celebrities, for the latter gives only temporary happiness while the former, eternal happiness. He confided that he sees and talks to God at midnight and he has the power to levitate during his birthdays.

I really feel so blessed to be considered as Fr. Suarez’ friend. (THE FREEMAN)
