ROVING IMP - Kristalle Marie Garcia-Kekert -

Wine isn’t just wine. The production of wine is so extensive that it truly is a captivating subject. Fancy a glass of wine and learn more about it. You don’t have to travel outside of the country to do so. This place is The Wine Museum Hotel and Resto located in 2253 Aurora Boulevard (formerly Tramo Road) in the city of Pasay.

My presence was unannounced but two of the knowledgeable staff members were more than pleased to give us a tour, making us feel very welcomed. They also provided me with a lot of relevant information.

As you enter the building, you will see the Colonial and Spanish restaurant and computerized wine vending machines featuring some of the finest wine selections. This everyday wine-tasting event somehow gave me the feeling of being invited for a drink. Providing an amazing taste and sensation, the vending machines give you a choice of a 25ml, 75ml or 150ml sized glasses!

Founded by the Joseph brothers, this family-run business is complete with weekly wine sessions held every Thursdays from 10AM to 3PM (registration starts at 930AM) at the Wine Education Center located on the 2nd Level of the building. The Wine Education Seminar includes a seven-course meal and wine pairing, a museum tour, a Wine101 CD and a certificate of attendance. It caters to curious individuals with a huge interest in wine, but do call in advance to book a spot at the seminar. The Wine Museum and Resto also offers advance studies (Wine102 and Wine103), as well as escorted wine tours to Australia, France, Spain and the USA.

As this interest carries on, through practice and experience, it should be relatively easy to differentiate a good wine from bad; it is just a matter of exposing your taste buds to this wonderful aromatic drink and appreciate that no two wines taste exactly the same.

This Wine Museum offers accommodations, as well; bed and breakfast rates starting from Php 2,200 per night. Check www.thewinemuseum.org or call +63 2 853-5894 for reservations.
