Do-it-yourself Photo Finish

- Ate Jen -

CEBU, Philippines - You don’t have photo frames to place your pictures? Here’s a cool way to show off photos of your recent family travels, your best friends or of yourself through an artsy photo layout:

Things you’ll need:

•photo/s

•a pair of scissors

•used folder/cardboard

•book wrappers/gift wrappers

•Coloring materials: crayons, pastel chalks, color pencils, color pens

•glue/double sided tape

•pencil

•colored papers/art papers

•Trimmings: used laces/ribbons, used buttons, assorted puff stickers, foam stamps, among other arts & crafts accessories

Step #1 Choose a photo/s then paste it/them on the used cardboard/folder/art paper.

Step #2 Glue the trimmings around the photo/s. Set it aside to fully dry.

Step #3 Jazz up your artwork with coloring materials. Draw your favorite cartoon characters, animals, etc. Do as you wish.

Tips:

1.In a separate paper, sketch your design first and use it as your guide.

2.You may include cut-outs from magazines or add a line from your favorite poem.

3.Be very careful when using the scissors. Ask assistance from mom, dad or your older brother or sis.

4.Be creative...let your imagination run wild.

Here’s another way to display your photos:

Things you’ll need:

•used lei or native necklace (Ask mom if she has these that she no longer uses)

• used paper clips

• photos

• scissors

Step #1 Make a single strand out of the necklace by cutting it or unlocking its clasp.

Step #2 Attach the photo to the chain of the lei or necklace using paper clips.

Step #2 Attach each end of the strand on the wall using a pushpin (ask an older brother or sis to do this for you).

You may visit your nearest bookstores for arts & crafts accessories and materials. Next month, I’ll write about Scrapbooking!
