Climate Change Survival Tip 3: Say NO to Styrofoam

CEBU, Philippines - Sure, it keeps your chocolate hot, but a thousand years after your last gulp, your empty cup will still be around.

It shouldn’t take much convincing to Say NO to Styrofoam, but there’s so much of it! We are almost as addicted to Styrofoam as we are to oil. And majority of the Styrofoam made ends up in the landfill.

The challenge isn’t just Styrofoam cups and packing peanuts: we love overpackaging in all shapes and materials. Whether it’s for a toy, a DVD set, or a blister-packed memory card, we love big boxes. It’s time to say no to all that waste. Reducing your packaging trash by 10 percent could save the atmosphere 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Tell us about your commitment, email us at kids.freeman@gmail.com or drop it in our office at The FREEMAN, V. Gullas cor. D. Jakosalem Sts., Cebu City. Make sure you write “Kid Stuff” on the envelope so that it would reach us.
