Summer storytelling with Smart

-

CEBU, Philippines - Summer was a blast for many incoming first and second graders across Central Visayas as Smart Communications brought the Read To Be Smart Summer Storytelling and Feeding Program to four different schools: two in Cebu and one each for Bohol and Negros Oriental.

In Cebu, Smart volunteers went to Buagsong Elementary School in Cordova and in Colonia Central School in Tuburan, Cebu. A total of 231 students from Cebu benefited from the program.

Every Saturday from April to June, the students went to school to listen to stories read by volunteers. There were also other activities like art workshops for Grades 4, 5, and 6 in Buagsong, as well as everyone’s favorite time, the snack time where kids come together to enjoy the food cooked by parent-volunteers.

Those who volunteered to tell stories were trained with the Silid Aralan Technology in teaching. Aside from Smart employees, other volunteers came from Tsinelas Association, Inc., Education students of Cordova Public College, students from Cordova Academy Cooperative School, students and alumni of Science and Technology Education Center, as well as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Next Thursday, well see the pictures of kids from Bohol and Negros Oriental.
