UV's Miss Rose of Summer

CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas celebrated its annual summer fun experience with a glamorous “Red Hot Summer Fun” theme at the UV Quadrangle last May 14.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Miss Rose of Summer 2010 where eight dazzling ladies competed for the crown in their sizzling summer costumes.

The pageant started with a bang as candidates showcased their talents in production numbers that included fire dancers.

Dr. Jocelyn Moran, chairperson of the summer activity, said that they really exerted effort and tried their best to make it more fun. She also emphasized how thankful they are to the participants and the school administration for making the show very successful.

“Miss Rose of Summer started during 1970s. And there was one time that we had to stop this for a while because we also joined Santacruzan before. Now we’re back and we want this to become more enjoyable,” she said.

Arianne Share Real was declared as Miss Rose of Summer 2010. “I’m so happy and overwhelmed. I’m so proud of myself that I made it. I want to become a good role model to everyone and to my fellow Visayanians,” she said.

Gretchen Tura was the 1st Runner up while Juliet Molina was also crowned 2nd runner up.

Miss Rose of Summer 2010 will receive 100 percent discount on tuition fees for the coming semester while the 1st and 2nd runners up will get 50 percent discounts each. ?
