COOKING WITH CHARACTER - Dr. Nestor Alonso ll -

One fine day last June 29, 1977, your favorite food  columnist received a letter that said,  “You are hereby  appointed as probationary instructor at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.” The letter was signed by Julian Yballe, president of Southwestern University. The idea to establish a College of Veterinary Medicine in Cebu was the brainchild of the Chairman of the Board, Engr. Matias “Bombi” Aznar III, who had the vision to provide an alternative for those who liked to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine since most of the schools were then located in Luzon. That dream became a reality and, until today, the SWU College of Veterinary Medicine remains as the only veterinary school here in Cebu.
