The best of Cebu in "Cebu, Cebu"

It was an afternoon of Cebuano pride when The Northwing of SM City Cebu, with the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation Incorporated, launched “Cebu, Cebu” last January 9. It was a celebration through exhibits and performances showcasing Cebu’s best in fashion, furniture, food, music and the Cebuanos’ strong faith in the Santo Nino.

One of the highlights that afternoon was the launching of the ad campaign My Cebu, My SM, which we now see regularly in our local newspapers, as well as in the national dailies.

Featured in the ad are the young and equally good-looking Aldeguer brothers, Jay, Michael and Chris who are all successful entrepreneurs in their different fields. In the ad, they share their testimonies on why they love their very own Cebu and their SM. Another version of the ad is the one of event specialist and classic beauty Teresin Mendezona. In the ad she tells the people that there is so much to celebrate in Cebu and how blessed the Cebuanos are with our beautiful beaches, world-class products, food and the people.

Also on exhibit are the world-class furniture pieces of Kenneth Cobonpue, the jewelry collection and designs of Annie Chen, the masterpieces of painter Romulo Galicano, the photos of master photographer E. Billy Mondonedo, the colorful collection of “Cebu’s fashion czar” Philip Rodriguez, which were used in the past Sinulog Festivals and the food display of Café Laguna’s Executive Chef Raki Urbina.

At the helm during the event were SM Prime Holdings’ Vice President Marissa Fernan, SM Vice President for Publicity Millie Dizon, Arts Council of Cebu Foundation Inc.’s Petite Garcia and Elvira Luym. Proud Cebuano artists Dulce and Raki Vega entertained the guests with classic Cebuano songs while Philip Rodriguez presented his collection through a fashion show with the Peace Philharmonic Double-Stringed Quartet providing accompanying music. Cebuano favorites such as dinuguan, budbud, siakoy with choco glaze, bam-i and a lot more were served during the event.

Congratulations again to SM City Cebu and the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation, Inc. for another successful event! Cheers!
