Sto. Niño Exhibit at Ayala Center Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - For sixteen years, Ayala Center Cebu has highlighted the Sr. Sto. Niño.  As festivities are prepared for the grand Sinulog celebration, the mall partakes in the activities through a religious exhibit of the venerated Sto. Niño images allowing devotees who flock the city from all over the country to pay homage.

This year, the Sto. Niño exhibit at Ayala Center Cebu officially opened last Friday, January 8.

Consisting of over 50 Sto. Niño images from different noted devotees, the exhibit speaks of the church’s theme for this Eucharistic year which is “Evangelization through Culture.”  It is explained that this comes from the process of nature being nurtured transforming into a culture.  This culture then becomes the means for evangelization where devotees become witnesses of hope, reconciliation and peace for the world in our times.

This year’s collection, clothed mostly in silver, includes a 6.2-foot image, several ones made of ivory, and a 200-year old antique Sto. Niño.  The exhibit this year got its inspiration from the Archdiocese of Cebu duplicating the antique and vintage look yet having rich hues of silver, red and gold.

The Sto. Niño exhibit is open daily during mall hours from January 9 until January 20, 2010.  This is located at the Level 2 Rotunda between Celine and Kamiseta.  Novena prayers will be held in the exhibit area every 6pm from January 8-16.  For details, you may call the Concierge at telephone numbers 5162035 and 2315342 local 324.
