Green Christmas at Pueblo Verde

- Ritche T. Salgado -

CEBU, Philippines - What better way to introduce a new property than with a laudable project that speaks of what the property is all about.

Last December, in keeping with the spirit of the Holiday Season, Aboitizland, Inc., initiated a project dubbed Eco Treats, encouraging locator-companies of the Aboitiz-owned Mactan Economic Zone II, Pueblo Verde with its premiere commercial development in the property – the iMEZ Building, and the surrounding communities to make Christmas Trees out of recycled materials (not recyclable materials, which could be new materials that can be recycled).

Eight groups joined in the activity, which included Pueblo Verde locators Baulita Food Kiosk and NGA Development Corporation, whose tree was judged as the People’s Choice; private schools CCL-CentrEx and Science and Technology Education Center, whose tree won first prize; and MEZ II industrial locators Lear Corp., Phil Iino Corp., who won second prize, Saturn International Design and Development Corp., and Sports Royal, Inc., who won third.

The trees were displayed in Pueblo Verde fronting the new iMez Building.

Floramie A. Vega, manager for commercial leasing and management of AboitizLand, revealed that the company has plans of making Pueblo Verde as a destination in Mactan Island. Pueblo Verde is the commercial area in MEZ II.

Already, a space has been reserved to be used as a terminal for public transportation, and with the opening of iMez, Vega said that they would expect more activities and events happening at Pueblo Verde. iMez is planned to house restaurants, offices, and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies.
