My new year wish

As an annual tradition of Into the Scene, I would like to share with you some of my dear friends’ New Year wishes. With great faith in Him, I wish that all their wishes, and yours, as well, do come true this 2010. Happy New Year and God bless us all!

Hans Hauri

General Manager,

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu

In 2010, I wish for the Marco Polo Plaza to take eco-consciousness to the next level. We want to follow through our commitment to environmental stewardship by incorporating these eco-friendly practices in our operations and supporting local green initiatives. I also wish for the associates to strive for continuous improvement of life. By continuing their learning and making use of the opportunities they have with the hotel, they can change their behavior from the “fact to make a difference” to “we make a difference.”

I will do away with “Hoping for World Peace” this time.

Only God dictates our fate. But it is us who define our lifetime. May He grant us sound health to do things in 2010. And given this lease, may we all find time this year to, in one way or another, touch lives around us in a good way as often as we can. It sounds not just noble but doable.

Can you imagine the marvels this will bring? Let’s start on New Year’s Eve!

Congresswoman Ann K. Hofer

2nd District

Zamboanga Sibugay

Service, sincere and spontaneous, is what I have striven for as Congresswoman in the second district of Zamboanga Sibugay where we now enjoy a very high rate of employment of 71 percent. My wish, thus, is to be of even greater service to the Sibugaynons, which is why I am now running for Governor of Sibugay. My wish is to win so that I will have a fresh mandate and extended time to give the Sibugaynons even wider-reaching, spontaneous & consistently sincere service.

Atty. Haide Acuña

My wishes for the New Year are simple.

For my country, I wish that we get a new beginning and a real shot at becoming a great country and people.

For myself, I wish I could finally learn to ride a bike and finish the Ironman 70.3 in August; and run my first world marathon major in Berlin in September.

Finally, I wish for good health for my family and loved ones.

Good health, simple joys, peaceful elections, new learning experiences and opportunities, more time with family and friends, a vacation and to be blessed with a baby!

The cynic in me says that this might be a long shot, but in 2010 I wish for clean, blood-free elections that yield leaders who actually lead, public servants who serve, and heroes that are found in government, not just in the boxing ring. If it’s not too much to ask, I would also like a 40cm black Alligator Birkin for myself.

If only wishes are pennies, I will spend it wisely! Let’s try to imagine I have 5 pennies to spend.

I wish that everyone knows the real meaning of prayer.

I wish I can give more significance to others.

I wish I can extend more compassion, listening, serving and being available when needed.

I wish that everyone will be able to see what God can do and what God wants to do.

I wish that everyone will learn to praise God in the storm.

Michelle Camacho Maranga

I wish I could read thought bubbles in people’s heads, so I can avoid those with “.....”. I wish to be more self-disciplined and more understanding of people (even if their thought bubble says “.....”). =) To be sincerely loved and to love in return. For my family and friends to have good health. To be happy and content.

FLAWLESS

This past year was one of the best for me! Flawless re-launched to a brand new and fun image, won the Outstanding Retailer of the Year Award, and embarked on Picture Flawless. All our hard work is paying off! With a bit of luck, we can share the spirit of flawlessness with the world, teaching Filipinos that everyone can be flawless, by being just the way they are. And, hopefully in 2010, I’ll find someone special that I can be flawless for!

General: A better image for Mindanao – definitely, there’s more to it than clan wars and unjust killings. Justice for all the massacre and kidnap victims without political hues or manipulations so we all can move on and give our trust back to the government and the authorities.

Personal: To get serious with my driving lessons that I have been postponing for years now, so I can get a driver’s license (precious for transactions that requires government Ids)
