CEBU, Philippines - At the finals of Mr. Cebu 2009, Sailor Sam was the young designers’ inspiration for a stylish cruise through fun wear. The panoramic screen set the runway and it came complete with sea and ocean liner mavericks with the fifteen contestants in white sailor pants and matching cap. But what showed on screen only highlighted what was happening live on stage. Recalling a tropical paradise, colorific hues ruled the runway as young designers Brendon Cenon, Edwin Alba, Harvey Cenit, Lord Maturan, Mique Yapching, Peewee Senening and Roni Anthony Yu unleashed their fun wear collection to the tune of In the Navy by The Village People.
Meanwhile, some guys were fortunate enough to have with them those shipwreck essentials: cut-off shorts and bandeau tops showing off musculature most evident on winner Kris Nimrod Cabigas while others came heavily militarized with a mariner’s jacket and trousers. How did it all end? The fun factor, to the rescue, of course, in the form of having consistency and well, surprising elements, in the segment of the competition. Bravissimo!
