Cebuanos welcome Windows 7

CEBU, Philippines - November 21 was a significant day for Windows fans in Cebu since it was the day that a new Windows product was introduced here. Windows fanatics flocked to the SM City Northwing for the Windows 7 launch where they got to sample the different features of the latest operating system from Microsoft and got freebies, too!

Microsoft Philippines Marketing Director Danny Ong said Cebu is special to Microsoft, especially since the Cebu market comprises 70 percent of their Vismin market. “We are very happy with the feedback from everyone that when Cebu users asked Microsoft to do a separate launch, we immediately decided to give it to them,” he said.

Mr. Ong said that Windows 7 gives customers the power of choice on what applications to add, along with the many other exciting features like HomeGroup, which makes it easy for users to share files and printers with other Windows PCs in your home; DeviceStage, which shows the status of all connected devices like cameras and mobile phones and makes it easier to synch and manage them; and Windows Touch, which makes it possible for users to interact with their PC with a touch-screen monitor.

“Basically, Windows 7 simplifies everyday tasks, works the way you want and makes new things possible,” added Mr. Ong.

Liezl Milan, Windows Client Product Manager also stressed that Windows 7 comes with Parental Controls that enables parents to monitor which sites their children access. This feature, she said, will give parents the peace of mind that their children are accessing pages that are safe and educational.

According to Mr. Ong, Windows 7 is also good for the environment. “Windows 7 consumes a lot less power so there are lesser carbon emissions. We are doing our part for the environment,” he said.

Microsoft is proud of how Windows 7 is doing in the market. Mr. Ong said that the orders of Windows 7 have surpassed Amazon’s most number of pre-orders, a position that was used to be held by the book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
