CEBU, Philippines - October salvoed the last quarter with a string of events and parties that I should say precursors on what to expect for the next occasions to come until we bid goodbye to 2009.
Of course, making the month larger-than-life was Vudu’s annual Halloween Ball. On its 8th year, the city’s premiere club themed the evening as the Movie and Music Awards. True-blooded partygoers flocked to the event dressed as their doppelganger celebrity stars, scary movie or fairytale characters, villains or superheroes and other popular personalities. Spicing up the evening were the many prizes given out that evening which included a trip to Singapore courtesy of Silkair to stand-out costumes. Of course, maintaining the vibe for the entire spook party were DJs Bombi of NBK and residents Marlon Orellano and Maxi Perez. Club guitarist Chico also strummed in the strings in between.
On a similar occasion, the Loft and Penthouse celebrated its White Hot Halloween with dancing bodies donned in the night’s color of flaming red and immaculate white filling the venue to heap. But prior to the Hallow’s eve shindig, it was the Loft’s third year anniversary that made headlines with its week-long celebration. The most anticipated was the Friday night get-together of the club’s VIPs with guest DJ Hongkong’s Joel Lai providing the euphoric house mixes. More power!
Finally, on a more ‘festive’ mood, noted couturier Bernardo Flores gathered close friends and loyal clients in an evening of good food and a whole lot of entertainment during hometown Consolacion’s annual fiesta. Yes, apart from an impressive buffet spread, the Cebu Divettes dropped by the designer’s humble abode to regale guests with a musical revue of stunning costumes, dynamic choreography and whimsical gags! It was certainly a fiesta like no other.
