Glear and Glam

INTO THE SCENE - Han Kintanar -

Once again, SM City Cebu presented Glear and Glam ‘09, a classic and rare car and fashion show featuring the collection of the Performance and Classic Car Enthusiasts Cebu (PACE) and the original creations of The Fashion Council of Cebu (FCC) last October 29 at The Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.

Mick Jagger and David Bowie’s “Dancing in the Streets” opened the show with Albert Arriba’s creation and Darren Deen’s 1965 Chevy Corvette Stingray driven by the dapper Mike Jo. It was followed by the Pussycat Dolls’ “Sway” while Bobby Aboitiz personally drove his 1952 Triumph TR2 as a Cary Santaigo creation was being modeled. It was followed by Jay Aldeguuer’s 1970 Porsche 911E, Bobby Aboitiz’ 1955 Mercedes Benz 190SL, Grand Benedicto’s 1965 Jaguar Kougar 3.8S, Glenn Soco’s 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder and Darren Deen’s 1960 Chevy Corvette C1 with the fabulous creations of Philip Tampus, Oj Hofer, Jun Escario and Arcy Gayatin, being paraded, respectively.

The finale was the 1988 Ferrari 328 of furniture icon Kenneth Cobonpue who personally drove his “baby” and the 1990 Ferrari 348 of hotelier and Consul Grand Benedicto who personally drove it, too, while Black-eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” was being played as the classy creations of Cebu’s Fashion Czar, Philip Rodriguez took centerstage simultaneously.

Of course, the “glitzy” event was attended by the metro’s “glam set” and car aficionados who apparently enjoyed the whole presentation and stayed along for cocktails.   The event was co-presented by BDO, the exclusive issuer of American Express Cards. The impressive collection of rare cars was exhibited for five days thereafter. Kudos and looking forward to the next one!
