Memories of London

CEBU, Philippines - In such a beautifully diverse city, it’s a fact that London’s historic sights do tell their own stories. I can’t get enough of London; it is a city just so appealing. It’s all about enjoying history at its finest, a place where I’ve absolutely found inspiration.

I soak up a lot of excitement whenever I’d see the simple piece of architectural splendor, Buckingham Palace, the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Adding sparkle to the city of London is the world famous shopping mall, Harrods, which stands ever so gracefully in the heart of Knightsbridge. Here, you will find the Diana and Dodi Memorial Shrine, a wonderful visitor attraction and the only place inside where visitors are allowed to take photographs.

Walking up and down the well-paved or cobbled streets, I still find so many peaceful spots in this endlessly busy city. Don’t be fooled that in this vibrant capital, there are still so many places with tranquil surroundings. One place where I would just sit and meditate is at one beautiful patch belonging to Kensington Palace, a slightly hidden garden open to the public.

Vast monuments that have their own unique appearance and charm are the London Eye for a breathtaking view of the city, the gothic Westminster Abbey, the Victorian designed Houses of Parliament and London’s local timekeeper and best-known historical landmark, the Big Ben. These are some of the very appealing sights that I always take notice of.

Getting away from the city center, there are many places of interest in London’s surrounding area such as Greenwich (pronounced gre-nitch), a vibrant neighborhood full of students and home to the Greenwich Meridian Line. It also used to be the resting place of the famous Cutty Sark, which sadly burned a few years ago. The borough of Greenwich brings back wonderful memories of those early days where my friends and I would just sit and relax at London’s Greenwich Park to let time pass.

With no limits to your imagination, London lives on its past and present making it a grand exhibit of life. It’s amazing how a city with so much energy truly opens up in front of you.
