Postscript to Sabores de España

People are still talking about Sabores de España. What with consultant Gema Pido’s real concoction of her Spanish cuisine so unbelievably authentic. Gema, in fact, has been congratulated by friends everytime she is seen in many parties for the flavorful Spanish food presented during the foodfest at the Marco Polo Plaza’s El Viento restaurant a full moon ago. We were impressed no end, too, for the marvelous food prepared by Chef Luke Gagnon and kudos to our friend GM Hans Hauri for allowing the Cebuanos to savor authentic Spanish dishes.

Very special guest of honor during the opening night was no less than HE Ambassador Luis Arias Romero, with his lovely wife Doña Soledad de Arias, and with Honorary Consul of Spain Jaime Picornell wife wife Cecilia.

The USC GHS Alumnae Association, conscious of the plight of the poor, has been raising funds to assist in the education of the underprivileged through its various projects, some of which are rummages sales, bingo, etc. Aside from their outreach projects, they also assist the school in coordination with the principal in whatever way they can.

The alumnae association in coordination with Fr. Patricio R. de los Reyes, Jr. SVD, Director, Scholarship Alumni and Placement, and Mrs. Elizabeth Saldivar, acting coordinator for scholarship, were glad to send Mary Jun Matoog to take up AB-REED, a four-year course in USC. Also, the association will be having its annual fundraising program on August 10 to 15 at the USCGHS Bldg. in P. del Rosario Ext from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
