Suitcase Epics

-

CEBU, Philippines – The University of San Carlos Poetry and Fiction (Engl 133N) class of Dr. Hope S. Yu conducted the “Suitcase Epics” as an outreach activity at the Children of Cebu Foundation, Inc., last March 24.

The students did a storytelling activity of the epics of Aliguyon and Matabagka to 35 abandoned, neglected and abused children of the Parian drop-in center. Kyra Cerillo was the main storyteller with John Paul Fernandez and Pathrese Lei Abejuela as lead performers supported by the rest of the class.

The “Suitcase Epics” was organized to promote the epic literature of the Philippines to an audience who have no access to reading materials.

The activity was a required component of the class as well as an outreach activity for the students.
