For the very first time after 25 years, the University of San Carlos Girls High School Batch ‘83 had their first ever reunion, reminiscing their noble foundation and humbly sharing their blessings, handing over loot bags and food to over a hundred less fortunate kids at the Cebu City’s Task Force on Street Children not once but twice.
A Holy Mass was offered at the USC GHS Chapel in thanksgiving to their Alma Mater for molding them to what they are now, from once playful and innocent girls to successful and God-fearing individuals. It was also a chance for them too, to pray together for the eternal repose of their eight batch mates who are already in His side and truly missed by the whole batch. A part of the series of activities was the nostalgic campus tour which brought them back to the Chinese garter, “dakop-dakop”, jackstone, and cotton candy days during recess and dismissal.
Such a blessing to the whole batch, one of Cebu’s unforgettable beauty title holder and now Managing Director of Lovett Hong Kong Ltd., Merce Abellana-Brenner together with her ever-loving and supportive better half, US-based businessman Stuart Brenner; Account Supervisor for International Sales of McLaren Phils. Ruby Ortiz and physical therapist Marites Taladua, all gathered their resources for the realization of one such unforgettable reunion. Of course, on behalf of the whole batch, Dr. Faith Villanueva, USC – GHS Batch ‘83 President couldn’t thank much these three generous ladies and Stuart as well.
How else can a jolly group end such a happy occasion than having a big bang - an evening of fun and laughter with good food plus colorful presentations at the Casino Espanol de Cebu. The Manila Chapter ladies composed of Dr. Sonia Chicano, Myrna Borromeo and Adelfa Yap had their presentation of dances with their dangles and belly buttons. Some 11 former teachers gamely joined the fun ‘til way past midnight. Catching everyone’s attention in awe was Merce Abellana-Brenner and her group who showed their ballroom dancing skills along with their dance instructors Yudi, Ronald, Jojo and Richard of the Cebu City Dance Sport.
Dr.Villanueva said the batch plans to make the reunion as often as possible and hopefully come up with more worthy projects that could benefit more of our deserving less fortunate brothers and sisters. Good luck to you ladies, and congratulations! Godspeed!
