He sought to bring back the prestige and professionalism in the industry by continually harping on the right and safe way to practice. He banded with a select group of fellow experts sharing a common vision and formed Newlife Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Center. To ensure that the services are of the highest standards, only doctors certified by their respective specialties as approved by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) are allowed to become members of the elite group. Dr James Joaquino, who hails from Talamban, Cebu and Canlaon City from Negros is based in Manila. He is Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery in the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) and currently is the section chief of Plastic Surgery in the Center and in two other government hospitals. Despite his busy academic and private practice schedule he still finds time to do charity work. Since 1987, Dr Joaquino has been a volunteer for Operation Smile. He has done annual missions for Operation Smile in Cebu in the last 11 years. He is all smiles himself when he says that he is so happy to be of service to his fellow Cebuanos.
