Crocolandia @ 80
It all started with a family’s love for animal and nature conservation. But the passion grew into a one hectare conservation center which is now home to 60 species of animals.
Crocolandia Foundation, Incorporated found in Biasong, Talisay, Cebu, is the first ever of its kind in Central Visayas and is celebrating its 8th anniversary full of surprises for visitor’s young and old alike.
With this years theme, “Crocolandia: Gateway to conservation…Connecting people and nature,” the staff and crew prepared exciting games like the treasure hunt which was participated by students from different schools.
Janet Nellie Chiu, the president of Crocolandia Foundation, Inc., shared that the uniqueness of Crocolandia is something that is really worth visiting. “We see to it that the everybody, kids most especially, would have a good experience here,” she added.
True to its name the park has almost 24 crocodiles and alligators including its main attraction, the 52-year-old crocodile named Lapu-Lapu which is one of the park’s oldest inhabitants that has grown up to15 feet.
But there is more to this destination than these aquatic reptiles. Almost 50 percent of their animals are birds ranging from endangered hornbills and cockatoos to Philippine owls. Others are the snakes, deer, ostrich and so much more.
Aside from the “walk-around-learning experience,” the center also offers a playground for kids and picnic tables in Crocolandia Grill.
The past few years, locals and foreigners have rushed to visit the place. The advertising-by-mouth have made Crocolandia a favorite destination for many, including educational tours for schools.
For only P80 for adults and P40 for kids under 12 years old, you and your family would definitely have a blast in Crocolandia.
Park manager Noel Heyrosa encourages everyone to go to Crocolandia and experience the “only place in Cebu where you could find man and animal living harmoniously and a place where humans could be one with nature.”
It has been eight years of education and fun for Crocolandia and wishing for another eight years for us to enjoy!
