And I still am. In a state of daze and dazzle that is, brought by the past month’s string of events. The holiday frenzy certainly showed no signs of economic crisis as busy shoppers about, parties showed lavishness and Cebu’s nightlife continued to pump up (obviously precursor for the festivities this month). But hey, that’s what December is all about: the yuletide and a whole lot of celebration that goes with it.
The month kicked-off with the much anticipated staging of Manuel Puig’s provocative play, Kiss of the Spiderwoman with this writer playing the lead role. It was a full-house for its limited engagement at the CAP Theatre last December 6. Following rave reviews a week later were two encore performances which was once again an SRO. Kudos to the cast and crew of Crystal Cavalier Productions for another remarkable endeavor! The after-show cast party led straight to Alejandro’s monthly Disco Saturday.
Meanwhile, lucky me, who got to attend several corporate and private parties! Our beloved publication celebrated the season with its annual Christmas party at the Atlantic Hall of the Waterfront Hotel. It was a whimsical evening as staff donned their colorful carnival costume. The Production Team once again defended their title as the grand champ for department presentations. On a similar occasion, WiPro BPO (the newest contact center to set base in the city) held its first holiday gathering at the Parklane Hotel hosted by international diva Rachel Watters. It was “Around the World” for the night’s theme as employees came in their best national costumes dashed fun, camaraderie and whole lot of surprises.
Finally, it was only Formo and club Vudu who promised a year-end shindig like no other. Formo with its usual Saturday of retro music gathered groupies of the roaring decades of the 80s and the 90s while Vudu’s Inverno soiree was packed with partyphiles clad in immaculate white. It certainly was the way I wanted to end my ’08. Cheers!
