In the no-nonsense business of skin care, continuous research, upgrading of facilities, and education is key to being successful – and to earning the respect of patients and peers alike. When laser treatment was first introduced in the United States more than a decade ago, Dr. Marilou Ong of MO Dermatologic Laser and Surgery Center went straight to studying whether and how such treatments can be made suitable for Asian skin. With the public’s growing interest and knowledge in what quality means, in terms of skin care, adding to the growing availability of high-power equipment to the dermatologists in the Philippines, Dr. Ong deemed it time to introduce such innovations – now in more refined, tried-and-tested forms – to the discriminating Cebu market.
Simultaneous with the relaunch of her clinic in November of this year is the unveiling of US-FDA approved machines that the group of certified dermatologists at MO, will be utilizing to cater to their patients growing range of needs. Embarking on this new platform in MO Clinic’s operations reveals a world of opportunities and advantages to MO’s patients, who are catered to with personalized service and premium skin care treatments by no less than a Board-certified dermatologists.
In pursuit of her vision to make MO Clinic a one-stop skin care shop, Dr. Ong enlisted the services of a Board-certified plastic surgeon in order to broaden the already extensive range of services offered at the clinic. “Laser technology, in my specialty, is essentially the all-encompassing umbrella term for the numerous, non-surgical treatments available to cover any and all types of skin conditions, including acne, acne scarring, age spots, freckles, large pores, wrinkles etc. I felt that my clients/patients deserve more than just traditional treatments,” Dr. Ong explains.
Among the laser treatment machines at MO Clinic is Thermage, a non-invasive alternative to a surgical face-lift that employs a unique patented state-of-the-art capacitive unipolar radiofrequency technology. “For me, this is a must-do for good skin tightening,” says Dr. Ong.
“MO also has a multi-application platform, which uses the elos technology. This machine delivers the most comprehensive range of aesthetic applications to successfully treat the broadest spectrum of hair colors, skin textures, and skin tones with minimal downtime,” she adds.
One of its applications is the Skin Rejuvenation head, which uses the combined bi-polar radiofrequency and intense pulsed light energies, precisely and safely target pigmented lesions such as freckles, sun spots and age spots, large pores, spider veins and redness from rosacea.
Another head, Skin Tightening, is an easy, non-surgical way to fight gravity and the toll that time has taken on your skin. This uses the combined bi-polar radiofrequency and infrared light energies to stimulate collagen production and produce a firming effect on lax skin.
The third head, the Diode Hair Removal, is an amazing new elos technology for unwanted hair growth on all body areas including the upper lip, cheeks, chin, neck, arms/underarms, bikini area, legs, and back. This employs the combined bi-polar radiofrequency and diode laser technology, which is the safest, most effective medical device available for permanent destruction of hair follicles.
MO Clinic also has a machine for fractional resurfacing, which is a unique non-invasive laser therapy designed to dramatically improve skin texture ad pigmentation, including the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, melasma, acne scars, and sun damage. The treatment delivers a series of microscopic laser spots on specific targeted areas, while simultaneously preserving areas of unaffected healthy skin.
“We also have botulinum toxin injections for wrinkles and hyperhidrosis, hyaluronic acid injection (fillers) for deep folds/wrinkles and lip augmentation; designer peels and medical-grade facials to name a few,” says Dr. Ong.
Plans of creating an ambulatory operating room for cosmetic procedures are likewise underway, inching MO Clinic closer to its vision of becoming a real one-stop skin care shop.
Safely located near a hospital setting, with only PDS, Board-certified dermatologists, and a board-certified plastic surgeon to take care of your needs, MO Clinic is truly taking the professional practice of dermatology to new heights. As invested in value, quality and improvement as she is – a quality the doctor and mother of three has learned from Cebuanos – Dr. Ong is expected to continue to raise the bar in the practice of dermatology in Cebu.
