Harvest Moon

- Honey Jarque Loop -

Many cultures around the globe celebrate the gathering of the harvest through a series of traditions. It puts emphasis on giving thanks for a year of prosperous crop growing.

Popularly known as Harvest Moon, it is so named because it helped farmers work on their crops at night when the moonlight shone for a longer time due to its location in relation to the earth.

With so much to be thankful for, the Chaine des Rotisseurs Cebu Chapter, which is now on its 14th year, embraced this theme during the club’s  informal get together held at the Marco Polo Plaza  Hotel recently.

Adhering  to the dress code, members and their guests all set to have a fun evening came with a touch of orange as they enjoyed  sparkling wine and a variety of hors d’ oeuvres.

Just as the fellowship came to a full swing, the Grand Ballroom, earlier covered with yards upon yards of orange fabric, opened its majestic doors. And wow what a sight! The venue was completely transformed into a harvest festival complete with colored autumn foliage, pumpkins, fruits, vegetables, grains and wheat.

Heading the list of attendees were Michel Lhuillier, Bailli Delegue Philippines and Amparito Lhuillier, Bailli  of Cebu.  They were joined by Spanish Honorary Consul Jaime Picornell, Vice Conseillier Gastronomique Teresin Mendezona, Vice Charge de Mission Nestor Alonso, Vice Charge de Presse Alvan Evangelio, president of  Marco Polo Plaza Rey Villar,  hoteliers Roy Abraham and Efren Belarmino, Les Amis dela France director Louis Thevenin and his statuesque wife Honeylet and society matrons Rosebud Sala,  Annabelle Luym, Vivina Yrastorza and frequent visitor to the island Rafaelita Pelaez.

The food stations strategically located for easy access featured a variety of salads, pasta, meat, gourmet mini burgers and the sinfully popular desserts and cheeses.

We enjoyed the most delicious and innovating dishes created by Executive Chef Luke Gagnon. All the flavors, essences and ingredients combined to produce an exquisite taste. We likewise savored the excellent wines served by the competent waiters.

Truly a revelation that evening was Manila-based, guest performer Lorenzo who delighted everyone with his interpretation of a selection of carefully chosen works from classical  to Broadway repertoire.

A big big thank you was given to the property’s hands on, proficient General Manager Hans Hauri and his highly professional team for an outstanding event.
