Pepito's Full Circle: The Final Series

-

Pepito started his career as an Impressionist-realist painter after his studies at the University of the Philippines Cebu College. As a college student, he was trained under the tutelage of the late Martino Abellana whose teachings have greatly influenced him during his early days as a full time artist. The bulk of his body of works during this time was mainly painterly landscape, still life and representational genre. But soon his style took a different turn embracing the figurative-cubism style. It is in Cubism where Pepito carved his own niche in the art community.

Committed to the propagation of positive Filipino values, strengthening family ties and developing ones spiritual understanding, Celso Duazo Pepito will be launching the final series of his second Traveling exhibit Full Circle on November 12 at 6:30 in the evening at SM Art Center Cebu.

Last November 8, 2007 Pepito opened the first series of his Full Circle exhibit at the Golden Cowrie Native Restaurant at Salinas Drive, Lahug. In January 16, 2008, he put up the second series at the Pre Departure area of Mactan Cebu International Aiport, Lapu-lapu City. Last August, he traveled to Quezon City to showcase the third series of his show at the Art Gallery of Philippine Heart Center.

As a cubist, Pepito mostly did paintings depicting the theme of family showing its values and traditions, as well as dignity of humble labor. His artistic compositions are mostly divided into three planar spaces that signify three important messages he wanted to convey to his viewers. First is his love and concern for family, second is his commitment to help his country, and above all to propagate the importance of spiritual guidance in one’s life. His painting at the same time carries a message of hope represented with an octagon form.

Full Circle is a showcase of Pepito’s few early works in Impressionistic style, cubist rendition and works he lately painted as homecoming to his starting point.

Invited to grace the opening of the exhibit as guest of honor are: Nina Borromeo, Armida Caguitla, Cheryl Go, Penny Williams, Malou Yap, Dr. Cris Dy, Derek Go, Devin Go, Dr. Jaime Rama and Lionel Sanchez. The exhibit runs until November 25, 2008.
