Food lovers to soon indulge in French-Filipino desserts at The Terraces

-

Baguettes and cheese might be the ultimate French comfort food, and Filipinos can harp all about their fresh mangoes and seafood. But if desserts come to mind, requiring both cuisines’ distinct tastes, then the all-new Vanille Patisserie is the place to try.

Even proprietors Vanessa and Valerie Lua’s mouths can’t help but water at their own dessert offerings. From original and traditional cakes, Vanille will also offer scrumptious tarts, pastries and even french macaroons—all made from the freshest local fruit, Belgian chocolate and imported special nuts, among others.

Who wouldn’t be tempted with the thought of rich tablea turned into delectable mousse? Or ube layered opera cakes instead of the French’s coffee ones? Or popular European sponge cakes finally made easily available to Cebuanos without ever having to visit a five-star hotel?

The Luas call Vanille their first restaurant venture, something that they both dreamed about since high school.

A self-confessed food lover, Vanessa manages the operations of Vanille, aside from working in the family’s trade business.

Vanille’s chef, Valerie, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris with top honors just last year, and trained at the famed Eiffel Tower’s Jules Verne restaurant.

“The actual concept of having a European-style dessert restaurant started when I noticed the fusion of food in Paris. My favorite chef, Sadaharu Aoki, fully integrated Japanese cooking into his French cakes, and I based my ideas from him,” said Valerie.

Vanessa added that they can really boast of the quality of their cakes and pastries, from the ingredients to the preparation. Even the chef agreed, thinking of Vanille’s individually prepared miniature cakes, “I believe in personal attachments, and keeping the taste consistent. I want to make sure that everything is perfect.”

They both emphasized that this particular fusion could be something new for Cebuanos to try. French desserts in Cebu? Why not? Head to The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.
