Consolacion's Secondary Schools' Cheerdance Competition

Consider yourself lucky when you’re surrounded with friends. The best part was not judging the cheerdance competition during the annual municipal meet for the secondary level at the Consolacion National High School gymnasium last Saturday morning but the brief reunion of old friends during the program.

The last time this writer was   with Jessica Quintana, Mapeh coordinator of Cabangahan National High School, and Oliver Figueroa, choreographer of the Mantawi Integrated Dance Company, was during the invitation to judge in Limasawa Island in Southern Leyte last April. The three may have been nicknamed the “trinity traveling judges” of Eastern Visayas for the numerous invitations of the region.

Together with Renezar Ferolino of City Central School, Tugbungan National High School Principal Mrs. Rosemary Oliverio and a cast of familiar faces, the cheerdance invitation was basically an alibi for a brief reunion of the group.

Long conversations were cut short as the competing teams performed. Despite the many secondary schools in the locality, only three groups vied for the top spot - Consolacion National High School Day and Night program and Jugan National High School. Jugan National High School came out the winner, with the Consolacion National High School Day Program winning second place. The winners will compete during the Provincial Meet this November in Lilo-an.

Good luck, athletes!
