Hordes of models sashayed on the runway in canary yellow, electric blue and purple, foliage green, and the likes. It’s dizzying. Don’t forget the earth tones in all of brown’s denominations and, of course black. What’s on the runways almost always trickles down to the department stores and voila, arrays of the same dizzying shades. When designers and trendsetters have had enough of fluorescent brights and neutrals, they most naturally turn away from the color wheel.
And now there’s white, the cool classic. Call it a cleansing of the color palette or a knee-jerk reaction to the kaleidoscopic hues of the past season. Scientists postulated once that if all of the earth’s populace wear white, it may avert global warming since heat waves are reflected back by white, so no absorption takes place. Thus, recently, a backlash happened and the “it” shade is no shade at all. Designers like Philip Rodriguez and Marichu Tan whitewashed their runways with head to toe whites evoking a sojourn in catwalk heaven with the former opening Filippo in SM City Northwing this month.. Pleated and draped, tube and halter cuts, bejeweled and belted, even heavily detailed and crocheted, their fresh offerings highlights any dull wardrobe.
Bravissimo!
