San Isidro Labrador Parish celebrates 50th anniversary

The San Isidro Labrador Parish in Talamban, Cebu City recently celebrated their 50th founding anniversary. The event carried the theme: “Celebrating God’s Love and Blessings of Spiritual Maturity and Development through the Intercession of St. Isidro.”

Among the highlights of the celebration was the pontifical concelebrated Mass officiated by His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal together with bishops Rev. Julito Cortes, DD, Rev. Emilio Bataclan, DD and Rev. Christian Vicente Fernandez Noel, DD. After the Mass, the different barangay zones then participated in a Barrio Fiesta.

I received a copy of a very interesting book “Through the Eyes of the Lay: Short Reflections on Selected Sunday Scriptural Reading and Holy Gospels” by M.B. Mahinay. The book is dedicated to His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal for his 75th birth anniversary last February 6, whose inspiration and encouragement towards lay empowerment inspired many to go into the deep. The author, Atty. Makilito B. Mahinay, is a family man and a practicing lawyer. He is also a lay minister of the Alliance of Two Hearts Parish in Banawa, an active member of Couples for Christ, lecturer and advisor of the Perpetual Dawn Rosarians within the parish, a Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus and a friend of the Puso ng Carmelo Community of Damortis La Union, Philippines.
